Patrick is the Senior Partner of Kennedys in Australia. Based in Sydney, Patrick has a longstanding excellent reputation as a leading expert in defamation and reputational risk and commercial litigation. Patrick is a trusted adviser to many high profile clients often involving sensitive and high value matters of significant media interest.

He has equally significant experience and reputation in insurance and corporate risk and in particular, professional indemnity and economic loss related cases. Patrick is also experienced in International Arbitration and was an inaugural Board Member of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA).

Patrick is a trusted adviser to many high profile clients, including two former Prime Ministers. This often involves highly sensitive matters and intense media interest. He has acted for clients in investigations and inquiries conducted by ASIC, APRA, ICAC, and the Ombudsman.

He has also represented the Australian Olympic Committee in relation to every Olympic Games since Beijing in 2008.

Patrick is the author of the text ‘Defamation Law in Australia’ (3rd Edition) LexisNexis Butterworths (2017) and contributed Chapters on ‘Defamation’ and ‘Criminal Law’ to the text ‘Social Media and the Law’ (3rd Edition to be published by LexisNexis Butterworths in 2020).
