Birmingham insurance breakfast seminar series

2019-02-28 8:15 - 10:00 GMT

Kennedys 35 Newhall Street Birmingham B3 3PU

We are delighted to be holding the first seminar in our 2019 insurance breakfast seminar series on Thursday 28 February.

Kennedys' lawyers will cover three current topics which are of interest to members of the insurance community in the West Midlands:

Copyright and trademarks in professional negligence disputes
Emily Clift, Solicitor

Emily will cover copyright and trademarks within professional negligence disputes giving those attending a basic understanding of the law of copyright and trademarks, which can arise in disputes concerning planning permission, architects, IT professionals and trade mark attorneys.

Clarifying the SAAMCo Cap - 22 Years On
Chanelle Marcella-Wint, Solicitor

Chanelle will provide an update on how the SAAMCo principle affects the measure of damages in professional indemnity claims, and the developments to the legal principle established in this landmark judgement over the last 22 years. Those attending will gain an understanding of how the 'SAAMCo cap' applies in practice beyond surveying disputes: from a claims handling perspective and to professionals generally.

The new rules on documentary disclosure
Nigel Turner, Barrister

Nigel will provide an overview of the new disclosure pilot scheme operating in the Business and Property Courts in England and Wales with effect from 1 January 2019 and the implications for the parties to the new proceedings.
