Claims Apprentice 2019: Episode 5 – technology and innovation

The penultimate episode of the new six-part video series, Claims Apprentice, in association with Insurance Post, first aired last Thursday and is available to view below.

As we draw closer to next week’s final, this latest episode sees the teams asked to create an app, utilising our award-winning KLAiM platform, to help support claims staff by addressing a workflow issue that they face on a day-to-day basis. Judging if the apprentices’ app creations could make insurers’ lives easier is Partner Richard West and Head of Research and Development Karim Derrick.

Lawyers have created an addiction on themselves over the last 10 years or so, which needs to be broken, and KLAiM – the idea of an innovative virtual lawyer – does away with that addiction…

Richard West, Partner

Alongside Kennedys’ Senior Partner, Nick Thomas, who the six candidates will be aiming to impress, is a trusted team of advisers who will aide him in ultimately reaching a decision on an eventual winner. In addition to Richard and Karim, they are Partner Suzanne Liversidge, HR Director Caroline Wilson, Head of Corporate and Public Affairs Deborah Newberry and, from Lloyd’s, Global Diversity and Inclusion Manager Marc Reace-Coles.

Each episode has showcased the ‘apprentices’, in their teams, completing tasks related to the challenges the claims market currently faces, designed to help them in their future careers. In the final episode, to be aired next week, the apprentices will face the challenge of the only individual task of the series: the interview. Each apprentice will have ten minutes to impress Nick and convince him on their merits of being crowned the 2019 Claims Apprentice.
