A Partner in Kennedys’ Melbourne office, John has more than 20 years’ experience acting for hospitals, doctors, healthcare organisations and allied health professionals.

His extensive experience includes defending often significant personal injury claims based on allegations of negligence and medical malpractice, including expedited cancer cases and claims arising from birth trauma, involving quadriplegia, misdiagnosis/medical misadventure and medication error.

John acts in coronial inquests, complaints to the Health Services Commissioner and the Medical Board. He advises hospitals on policies, protocols and employment disputes and represents clients in the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

He also defends, on underwriters’ or self-insurers’ instructions, both public and product liability-based claims involving personal injuries, property damage and pure financial loss.

John works particularly closely with clients developing strategies for claims handling, alternative dispute resolution and litigation. He regularly presents workshops, seminars and training sessions to clients and their markets. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
