Anjali is a Special Counsel in Kennedys’ Melbourne office where she brings over 10 years’ experience to her practice in health law. She acts for medical indemnity insurers, medical practitioners, allied health professionals, hospitals (public and private) and health care facilities on a broad range of medical negligence issues.
Anjali acts in coronial investigations and inquests, Medicare audits, investigations by the Health Complaints Commissioner, and has defended medical negligence claims in the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria, including claims of “wrongful birth”, cerebral palsy and delayed diagnosis of cancer.
She also advises on complaints made to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency / Medical Board of Australia, including issues about drugs and poisons prescribing, mandatory reporting, advertising regulations, adequacy of medical records, doctor / patient boundaries as well as communication and health impairments.
Anjali’s experience includes general insurance advice to major insurers on complex and sensitive issues surrounding indemnity and secondment to the Australian Medical Association of Victoria (AMA) where she provided legal advice and continues to advise AMA members.
