Anjali is a Special Counsel in Kennedys’ Melbourne office with over 10 years’ experience in health law. Anjali has particular expertise in acting for medical indemnity insurers and medical practitioners in complex injury claims in the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria. Claims include catastrophic injuries to a child/infant, brain and spinal injuries, metastatic cancer, nervous shock arising from a death, claims involving multiple plaintiffs and psychiatric injuries. Anjali acts in AHPRA investigations and VCAT hearings, including issues about drugs and poisons prescribing, mandatory reporting, advertising regulations, adequacy of medical records, doctor/patient boundaries and health impairments. Anjali also acts in coronial investigations and inquests, Medicare audits and complaints to the Health Complaints Commissioner. Anjali’s experience includes general insurance advice to major insurers on complex and sensitive issues surrounding indemnity and secondment to the Australian Medical Association of Victoria (AMA) where she provided legal advice to AMA members. Anjali is a committee member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Public Liability and Medical Negligence Committee.
