Paul is a London based partner. He was admitted as a barrister in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1986, before qualifying in England and Wales in 1995.
Paul specializes in advising (re)insurers on first and third party claims arising from incidents causing major losses including fire, flood and subsidence arising out of public liability property damage claims and in disputes in the construction sector. He has many years’ experience advising insurers, funders, employers, contractors and professionals regarding substantial contractual and workmanship as well as regarding bond and insurance disputes.
Paul boasts significant experience in alternative dispute resolution including adjudication and mediation and advises on insurance coverage and policy disputes in relation to professional indemnity and construction all risks (CAR) and erection all risks (EAR) policies.
Paul has worked on an impressive range of high profile, high value and international claims: from advising excess public liability insurers on coverage issues arising out of a £200m claim, defending Network Rail in series of multi million pound adjudications arising out of its maintenance and renewal contracts with one of its main national contractors and acting for an international soft drink manufacturer on a multimillion pound dispute.
He is the author of articles on adjudication and the payment regime under the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and lectures on adjudication and design liabilities. He is also a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers, and holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Economics degree.
