Laura is a Senior Associate based in Kennedys’ London office. She qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2016 and has Higher Rights of Audience in the criminal courts. Laura is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association.

In April 2022 Laura was appointed as Assistant Coroner for East Sussex.

Laura is a member of Kennedys crime and regulatory team and is involved in representing companies and individuals involved in disaster incidents. Laura is familiar with defending companies under investigation by a wide-range of regulators including the police, Health and Safety Executive, local authorities and the Environment Agency.

Laura has advised clients from a wide-range of industries including hospitality, healthcare, waste management, construction, security and local authority.

Laura has represented clients in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts as well as in inquests connected with fatal incidents. She also has extensive experience of representing companies and individuals at police interviews and other interviews held under caution.

Prior to joining Kennedys, Laura prosecuted cases on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive and worked as a coroner’s officer for six years. As such, she is able to advise clients on all areas of an investigation following an incident.

Work highlights

  • Laura was involved in the team that secured an acquittal of two individuals charged with gross negligence manslaughter following a fatal incident involving a fall from height.
  • Laura assisted an individual who was interviewed by the police on suspicion of causing death by careless driving following a fatal road traffic collision. Ultimately no criminal charges were brought against the individual.
  • Laura represented an individual at an inquest following a fatal incident on a construction site. The individual had been the operator of machinery that had collided with the deceased. The Health and Safety Executive were in attendance at the inquest and no criminal charges were brought against the individual.
