Aoife Ryan

Aoife is a Senior Associate in Kennedys’ Dublin office. She qualified with the Law Society of Ireland in 2011 and joined Kennedys in 2014. Aoife is also a Certified Insurance Practitioner with the Insurance Institute of Ireland.

Aoife represents insurers in relation to all types of professional negligence claims. She specialises in defending claims against a wide variety of professionals with a particular focus on engineers, architects and other construction professionals. Aoife also defends claims against non-traditional professionals such as media and technology companies.

Aoife is actively involved in defending claims in the High Court, at mediation and arbitration, and at settlement meetings/discussions.

Aoife is also experienced in investigating coverage issues and interpreting policy wordings.

Aoife has completed two secondments during her time with Kennedys. Her first secondment involved working closely with the claims team and underwriters in the Dublin headquarters of a major international insurer where she focused primarily on financial lines claims. Her second secondment was spent with a large construction company based in Northern Ireland where she worked alongside both in-house counsel and commercial directors handling both high value professional negligence and catastrophic injury claims.

Aoife completed a diploma in insolvency and corporate restructuring with the Law Society of Ireland in 2010 and completed a diploma in intellectual property and technology law, also with the Law Society of Ireland, in 2017.
