The transport and logistics industry is evolving at an exponential rate.  Forwarders are asked to provide an increasing number of roles within the supply chain industry from carriage, to warehousing, to supply chain management (whether as 3PLs or 4PLs) and customs agents, to name but a few.  We work closely with our transport and logistics clients to understand their challenges and assist in managing their risks.

We cover all aspects of the carriage of goods by road, sea, rail and air, both domestic and global and act for transport and logistics organisations and cargo owners and insurers across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas.

Our services include:

  • Litigation and dispute resolution, including advising on and defending liability claims including cargo, freight liability, motor, employers’ and public liability.
  • Subrogated recoveries
  • Commercial issues and contract drafting
  • Regulatory advice
  • Counter-fraud detection and investigations
  • Risk management advice.

We help our clients manage legal risk across the supply chain, including production, warehousing and freight distribution.  We also advise on risk transfer issues and the implications of the international conventions which often apply compulsory limits of liability.  We handle a range of subrogated recoveries for cargo insurers and we advise operators and their liability insurers on risk management issues and injury as well as non-injury claims.

For the supply chain industry, we advise on issues arising from containerised and multimodal transportation.  We have considerable experience of project cargo and the challenges which this poses to multimodal carriage.

We have particular expertise in areas of the supply chain that are vulnerable to loss and damage, including theft, temperature abuse and access by clandestine entrants.  This includes wide expertise in the Pharma and food supply chain industries.  We advise the supply chain industry and their insurers on fear of loss claims.

Our team regularly advises the warehousing industry and their insurers dealing with floods, fires and other catastrophes. We can assist in claims and risk management for issues including cross docking, wrongful release, temperature-controlled products and stock loss.

We have a wealth of experience dealing with operators involved in one-off incidents, concertina collisions and fatal claims. We also advise on effective fleet management by considering driver behaviour, in-cab cameras and telematics.

Our contract management service includes the negotiation and drafting of freight forwarding contracts for forwarders and cargo owners. We negotiate and draft contracts for specific projects including the logistics for gas and oil plants, high-end electronics and pharmaceutical products.

All of our transport work is underpinned by our close liaison with our fraud team, which enables detection of fraudulent trends and activities to ensure clients are defending genuine claims. Working with our fraud team, we advise client on security in the supply chain network, whether this involves pilferage from warehouses, internet haulier fraud or other forms of criminal activity.
