Kennedys wins Management Partner of the Year at Legal Business Awards 2019

We are delighted to announce that Nick Thomas was awarded Management Partner of the Year at last night’s Legal Business Awards.

In an extremely competitive category our significant growth over the last 20 years, which has accelerated in the last five, was recognised by the judging panel as being worthy of winning the award for Management Partner of the Year. Following a host of peer nominations, Nick was shortlisted alongside Ray Berg (Osborne Clarke), Richard Crump (Holman Fenwick Willan), Chris Hale and David Patient (Travers Smith), Peter Hasson (Clyde & Co), and Philip Rodney (Burness Paull).

Twenty years after qualifying with Kennedys Nick became senior partner in 1997, at which point we had 25 partners and two UK offices. We now have over 250 partners and 37 global offices. In revenue terms, we were the top-performing firm in the 26-50 bracket of Legal Business's legal survey, LB100, having recorded a 31% rise in global turnover and 14% for UK income. Nick, who was re-elected to serve a fifth five-year term as Senior Partner in 2017, has overseen significant expansion, with revenues growing 68% over the past five years.

Nick, along with the Global Strategy Board and Partnership, ensures that strategic decisions are always based on client need and are guided by our vision and culture and values. Most recently Nick has been showing his support to the development of young professionals in the insurance sector, starring as Lord Sugar in our sponsorship of Insurance Post’s Claims Apprentice series, which can be viewed via our dedicated Claims Apprentice webpage.

Last night’s gala dinner and ceremony, now in its 17th year, was hosted by actress and comedian Meera Syal at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Yesterday we also announced further growth with three new associations in Central America and the Caribbean, becoming the first international law firm to establish a presence in each of the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Panama.
