Kennedys and berg complete merger
We are pleased to announce that we have completed our merger with one of Manchester’s most respected law firms, augmenting our global commercial litigation practice.
berg, founded in 1980 by Reuben Berg, specialised in banking and finance, commercial disputes, employment, real estate, and corporate and commercial matters. Reuben, who was Senior Partner at berg, and Alison Loveday, formerly CEO at berg, join as Partners together with their team, and will double the size of our UK commercial practice. Our global commercial practice currently operates throughout the Americas, Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions.
Having established berg as one of the leading commercial litigation firms in the UK, we are excited and looking forward to working as part of a global infrastructure that provides exceptional advice and service to its clients, without compromising our imaginative approach. We have turned down many opportunities over the years that weren’t the right fit to grow berg in the way we wanted, and I am thrilled that we have brought together two very like-minded businesses.
Reuben Berg, Partner, Manchester
I am delighted that Reuben, Alison, and their team have joined Kennedys. They come with an excellent reputation, serving businesses and entrepreneurs in key sectors including property development, technology, leisure, healthcare and education. This has been a strategic growth area for Kennedys and we are very pleased to be further growing our presence in the North West with a distinctive commercial offering. The combined team will offer substantially enhanced services to clients, with client focus remaining at our core.
Nick Thomas, Senior Partner at Kennedys
We opened our Manchester office in 2008 and, in October last year, moved into larger premises in the city to accommodate growth in the region. Currently located on Peter Street, the team from berg will move to our Manchester office in Churchgate House on Oxford Street on 1 October 2017.
This announcement is the latest landmark in a year of consistent growth for us, following office openings in Melbourne and Mexico City, a formal association in Italy, a merger with US law firm Carroll McNulty & Kull; and seven lateral partner hires so far this year.
