- Advised London Market reinsurers in relation to a claim for indemnity for damages caused to the environment as the result of the rupture of a dam in Spain. A highly publicised case, with a claim for more than €100 million, where the judgment led to changes in Spanish and European legislation.
- Advised insurers in a matter involving a claim against the president of a company for supposed bribes to a member of a Spanish political party.
Jesús is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Kennedys’ Madrid office. Qualified in Spain in 1991, he has more than 25 years’ experience in insurance law. He is fluent in English and French. His international experience is extensive and he is skilled in coordinating claims across different jurisdictions, principally Spain, the UK, France and the Americas.
Jesús receives instructions from local and international clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters. He has represented insurers and reinsurers on coverage issues arising from major losses in Spain and abroad, as well as policy wording and the adaptation of policies to Spanish law. In particular, he has handled major cases involving directors and officers, financial lines and the professional indemnity of architects, surveyors, lawyers and insurance brokers.
As well as his insurance and reinsurance experience, Jesús also has experience in commercial and corporate law.
