Sarah is a partner based primarily in Sheffield and also works out of our London and Manchester offices. Sarah qualified in England and Wales in 2002.

Sarah specialises in advising developers, contractors and consultants on both contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering related matters. Sarah has particular experience advising developers and contractors on procurement strategies and construction documentation on infrastructure and commercial projects in Asia and UK.

Sarah has extensive experience in all types of dispute resolution techniques including litigation, mediation, adjudication, expert determination and international and domestic arbitration. Sarah has worked on an impressive range of disputes: from advising large UK funders on share and property purchase of recently built hotels; defending a large UK engineering contractor on a significant professional indemnity claim in relation to groundworks failures; acting for private international developers (and their funds) in relation to the drafting of all construction documentation on a series of high value developments throughout the UK; advising a major engineering contractor on its trade contract for the Battersea Park Project; and acting for a major UK contractor on its disputes under an NEC3 contract for work undertaken at Sellafield.

Sarah boasts particular expertise in relation to payment disputes in adjudication and has significant experience with all standard forms of construction contracts. Sarah lectures regularly on the risks associated with such standard forms, as well as the changing field of design liability and adjudication.

Sarah is a member of the Society of Construction Law and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a trustee of the Montgomery Theatre in Sheffield.

  • Representing an Austrian contractor with extension of time claim and variation claims arising from the rehabilitation of a rail network in Romania.
  • Dispute Adjudication Board proceedings followed by ICC Arbitration with a combined claim and counterclaim value of circa €140 million.
  • Acting on behalf a contractor in relation to a £20 million dispute concerning decommissioning and demolition works including the removal of low level waste on a British nuclear power plant. Adjudication.
  • Advising an airline service provider based in Hong Kong in relation to procurement and negotiation of construction documents for the development of a new facility in the Philippines.
  • Advising UK national rail company on construction documentation requirements for various property holdings – to include reporting on and negotiating amendment and novation of consultant’s appointments, building contracts and all security documentation.
  • Acting for a UK construction sub-contractor in its negotiations on a PFI contract with the Department of Defence – to include reporting on and negotiating the building contract, KPIs, insurance documents, collateral warranties and associated corporate documentation.
