Alan is a partner in our Sheffield office. With over 25 years’ experience of defending companies and insurers against complex and significant claims for employers' and occupiers' liability, Alan specialises in defending complex, high-value and catastrophic claims on behalf of insurers, Lloyds' syndicates, corporate clients and loss adjusters. He also advises on claims relating to property damage and product liability, and provides policy advice to clients.
Alan has successfully defended clients at many trials, but constantly seeks the best possible and most cost-effective result for his clients through effective and appropriate alternative dispute resolution.
His experience includes defending a unique £3 million claim for chronic pain and psychiatric injury, defending a national business against a personal injury claim for over £1 million arising from alleged complex regional pain syndrome and defending an international charity against high value personal injury claims arising from a serious car accident in Ethiopia. He has defended many high value claims for amputations, brain and psychiatric injuries, spinal injuries, fatal accidents and multiple orthopaedic trauma.
He is also a member of The Law Society and the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
