Lewis is the senior associate in the litigation department of Kennedys’ Bermuda office.

He practised for six years as a commercial barrister in London before spending a further two and a half years in Hong Kong as a litigation associate in Maples and Calder, during which time he was involved in very high value BVI and Cayman Islands disputes arising out of, inter alia, the PRC, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan.

Admitted to the UK and BVI bar, Lewis is experienced in all manner of onshore and offshore commercial litigation with particular expertise in corporate and insolvency disputes.

  • Defending a four year US$100m unfair prejudice petition in the BVI High Court arising out of a dispute in Vietnam.
  • Obtaining an injunction in a US$750m breach of fiduciary duties, knowing receipt, dishonest assistance, conspiracy and property claim in the Cayman Islands Grand Court arising out of a dispute in the PRC and Hong Kong.
  • Defending a US$90m breach of fiduciary duties, knowing receipt, dishonest assistance and property claim in the Cayman Islands Grand Court arising out of a dispute in Singapore.
  • Defending and settling, through restructuring, a US$60m winding up petition in the Cayman Islands Grand Court arising out of a dispute in China.
  • Obtaining an injunction to protect US$5m of shares in a cross-border property dispute in the BVI High Court arising out of a dispute in Thailand.
  • Defending a US$6m claim for breach of fiduciary duties, knowing receipt, dishonest assistance and return of property in the BVI High Court involving complex issues of BVI and Nigerian trust/property law arising out of a dispute in Malaysia.
  • Settling a disputed injunction in the BVI High Court involving a US$15m asset freeze and an associated claim for damages involving Chinese enforcement issues.
  • Winning a five day complex fraud trial in the UK Technology and Construction Court.
