Colleagues from Kennedys’ PEC team recently spent a day supporting Women’s Inclusive Team (WIT) in Tower Hamlets, London, marking the firm’s second visit to this valued community partner and grant recipient of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).
WIT, led by Safia Jama MBE provides practical support welcoming space for women and families across the borough. What began as a small group created by local mums has grown into a trusted community hub.

During the visit, the PEC team helped in WIT’s community kitchen and food pantry, supported staff with preparation for upcoming programmes and spent time with women who use a range of services, including accessing wellbeing sessions, skills workshops and family support activities. The day gave colleagues time together in a different setting, working in a way that helped people connect while contributing to the work of a local organisation. Kennedys also made a £500 donation to support the charity’s ongoing work,.
The Women's Inclusive Team were exceptionally hospitable, kind, and friendly and I would love to continue working with them on future projects. The work they do for the local community is fantastic.
Fantastic team building day and something we hope to continue annually now as it was so rewarding and enjoyable. The Women's Inclusive Team were exceptionally hospitable, kind, and friendly and I would love to continue working with them on future projects. The work they do for the local community is fantastic. Phoebe Penman, Associate WIT continues to make a meaningful impact by tackling food insecurity, isolation and health inequalities while creating spaces where women can build skills, confidence and feel part of a wider community of support. The visit gave colleagues a clearer understanding of local needs and how volunteering and fundraising through Kennedys’ partnership with the IICF and help sustain the charity’s vital work.
This initiative forms part of Thrive Together, Kennedys’ global volunteering and pro bono programme, which supports the firm’s aim to expand volunteering and pro bono activity and reach more people in communities by 2030.
