Community in action: visiting the Hong Chi Association, Hong Kong

The Hong Chi Association, is one of Hong Kong’s leading charities, dedicated to serving more than 7,000 people of all ages with developmental needs. Its services include pre-school facilities, supported employment, adult education, family and community support, recreational and social programmes, and professional therapy. Our Hong Kong community volunteers continue to support Hong Chi by raising funds, donating essential items and joining residents to mark special occasions such as the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Leading with purpose, I support our colleagues to embrace corporate social responsibility, knowing that our success is measured not just by profits but by the positive impact we create in our communities.

In June, colleagues and interns from our Thrive Action Group, visited the Hong Chi Association’s Oi Tung Hostel to spend meaningful time with residents and strengthen our partnership.  The team organised interactive activities including a Doraemon Dance Warm-up, Fishing Challenge, Gift Relay, and a Thank You Card workshop. The visit ended with karaoke, alongside piano and harmonica performances from residents.

The day was full of energy and joy. Residents shared their creativity and talents, and our team left inspired by their positivity.

Founded in the 1960s, the Hong Chi Association has grown from a small church class into one of Hong Kong’s leading charities, operating special schools and service centres under its motto “Children come first.” Visiting reminded us how important these connections are. We look forward to continuing our support and encourage colleagues to join future visits.

The initiative also forms part of Kennedys’ Thrive Together volunteer – supporting a global goal - to increase volunteering and pro bono activity - and reach thousands of individuals by 2030.
