Jeremy is a Special Counsel based at the Kennedys Sydney office. Jeremy specialises in insurance litigation, including with respect to negligence, personal injury, property damage, product liability, the Australian Consumer Law, marine, fraud, life insurance, statutory recovery and administrative law.

Jeremy advises on the interpretation of legislation, the interpretation of insurance policies and other contracts, insurance coverage, claims investigations, prospects of success, quantum, costs, strategy, alternative dispute resolution, trial preparation and prospects of success on appeal.

  • Acting for a London Marker Insurer in the Supreme Court of New South Wales regarding proceedings arising from several layers of insurance in which orders and declarations are sought involving more than AUD$15,000,000.
  • Acting for a marine insurer in the Supreme Court of Victoria regarding a multi-million dollar claim concerning an alleged pest infestation.
  • Appearing for clients in all courts, having also practiced as a barrister at the Sydney Bar.
  • Acting for insurers in more than 70 claims for total and permanent disablement, including successfully defending a claim for a multi-million-dollar own occupation total and permanent disability benefit, Murphy, McCarthy & Associates Pty Ltd v Zurich Australia Ltd [2024] NSWSC 1203, and acting as an insurer’s ongoing appointed representative on a Claims Review Committee.
