Profile

Toby is a senior associate in the financial lines team in the Melbourne office.  He specialises in advising insurers in the resolution of claims against a wide range of professionals including construction professionals, law firms, financial advisors, accountants and auditors as well as IT consultants and service providers.  Toby’s experience extends to acting as defence counsel under management liability and directors’ and officers’ liability policies.

He also acts for insurers in subrogated recoveries. 

Toby qualified as a solicitor in the UK in 2014 and, before joining Kennedys he worked with a London based construction and insurance firm. In the UK Toby had significant experience in defending professional indemnity claims under the Pre-Action Protocols and other forms of dispute resolution including litigation, adjudication, and mediation.

Toby has been seconded to the financial and professional lines claims teams of two London based leading market insurers, handling financial and professional indemnity claims on behalf of multiple London market insurers which has provided him with an in depth understanding of the commercial considerations insurers face. 

Toby also has significant experience in advising insurers on all areas of policy coverage and has acted in relation to many complex policy coverage disputes.
