Martyn is a senior associate solicitor based in Kennedys’ Manchester office. He qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales in 2005.

Martyn acts on behalf of private clinicians, hospitals and healthcare providers, medical malpractice insurers and individual healthcare practitioners in all aspects of clinical negligence litigation.

He has expertise advising on a range of complex and high value litigated claims with specific expertise on neurological, vascular, cardiological, surgical and orthopaedic injuries, as well as delayed cancer diagnoses.

Prior to joining Kennedys Martyn worked for several years at another national healthcare law firm defending clinical negligence claims predominantly pursued against GPs and NHS Trusts, across northern England.

After qualifying in 2005 Martyn spent over a decade in claimant practice, working at a national firm. This included developing a niche expertise in injury and clinical negligence claims affecting military personnel.

Martyn has also delivered seminars and training to healthcare clinicians on a number of topics including the litigation process, drafting witness statements, record keeping and consent.

Work highlights

  • Successfully defended to trial a case involving allegations pertaining to abdominal surgery, alleged to have resulted in bowel ischaemia.
  • Discontinuance, at trial, in a matter involving allegations as to care provided by dermatology and haematology consultants.
  • Discontinuance, at trial, in a case related to management by vascular surgeons, allegedly resulting in a lower limb amputation.
