Dilani Wong
Profile
Dilani is a senior associate in Kennedys’ London office, working for the Melbourne healthcare team. She has an extensive background in personal injury spanning over 10 years, and was admitted to the profession in Victoria in early 2018. Prior to her move into private practice, Dilani undertook her legal traineeship at the Transport Accident Commission in Victoria, working in an in-house capacity.
Dilani has a keen interest in health insurance and she acts for Australian medical practitioners and private hospitals in the defence of medical negligence claims, disciplinary proceedings, registration issues, coronial inquests and healthcare complaints. She is also experienced in general insurance and life insurance, having acted for Australian insurers in the defence of public and product liability claims and TPD claims including recovery matters associated with Victorian statutory schemes.
On relocating to London in 2022, Dilani worked in the cyber insurance team at Kennedys, followed by a move to work in-house as Regulatory Legal Counsel at one of the world’s largest custodian banks. Whilst working in the cyber team, Dilani advised and acted for organisations of varying sizes in relation to high-profile local and international breaches often involving ransomware, data exfiltration and system compromises. In her role as Regulatory Legal Counsel, Dilani advised the bank on a broad range of corporate, regulatory, privacy and governance issues across the UK and EMEA.
Currently, Dilani’s day to day work includes providing strategic and commercial advice to Australian health insurers and medical professionals with respect to regulatory matters, coronial investigations and the defence of civil matters. Dilani is an experienced litigator and manages a broad practice of civil matters including complex medical claims, and she has broad experience in negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
