Profile
David is a legal director in the London aviation team. He qualified as a solicitor in Northern Ireland in 2012 and England and Wales in 2013. He joined Kennedys in June 2024 with 8 years of Aviation liability experience.
David has experience of contentious multi-jurisdictional aviation related disputes acting on behalf of airlines, helicopter operators, airport operators and ground handling agents on all aspects of aviation liability.
He has particular experience of dealing with disputes in Europe and the Middle East as well as a variety of other jurisdictions around the world.
David has been involved in handling matters involving aviation hull damage, property damage arising from aircraft operations, cargo disputes, as well as all aspects of passenger liability (including death and bodily injury, baggage, denied boarding and EU Regulation EC261/2004). David also has experience of dealing with major losses and subrogated claims.
More recently David has been involved with representing a major international airline and the London insurance market in the aftermath of a severe clear air turbulence incident and ensuring that their legal and commercial interests are protected.
David has presented to Airlines, Brokers, Underwriters and at the IATA Risk and Insurance Management Forum on topical subjects relating to aviation and insurance.
David is a committee member of the Air Law Group of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

- Acting on behalf of a major international airline and the London insurance market in the aftermath of a severe clear turbulence incident.
- Advising Emirates and their underwriters and working with Counsel in the Republic of Ireland regarding Proceedings examining the exclusivity of the Montreal Convention 1999 (Forde v Emirates, High Court of Ireland [2022]).
- Advising a Middle Eastern Airline in Court Proceedings in Qatar regarding the interpretation of an Article 17 “accident” pursuant to the Montreal Convention 1999.
- Advised a major UK airline regarding third party recovery actions (both pre-action and litigated) regarding aircraft damage incidents.
- Acting on behalf of airlines in the Middle East regarding cargo disputes (pre-action and litigation) in various jurisdictions and achieving commercial settlements. Multitude of actions relating to pharmaceuticals and disputes arising from the covid-19 pandemic.
- Advising on commercially sensitive Proceedings in the US, UK and Australia.
- Advising in respect of disputes involving international sanctions and issues arising from the same.
