Dayne is a senior associate in casualty and corporate claims and is based in our Leeds office. He is an experienced Solicitor specialising in defendant insurance/reinsurance, dealing with claims concerning complex liability, major injury and industrial disease. He handles claims throughout all pre-litigation and litigation stages to and including repudiation, trial or negotiated settlement (damages and pre-assessment costs).

Dayne has built a solid reputation for being level-headed and pragmatic. Both his clients and opponents respect Dayne as a no-nonsense yet cordial Yorkshireman. He cuts through faff and reliably delivers excellent results. 

Within the insurance/reinsurance sector Dayne has trained and worked in some of the leading law firms, and with some of the foremost lawyers. He has over a decade of experience working day to day with insurers and corporate clients. His clients have included major composite insurers, Lloyd’s Syndicates, SMEs and large companies.  During this time Dayne has handled a very wide range of employers' liability (EL); public liability (PL); and industrial disease (ID) claims pre-litigation, Fast Track, Intermediate Track and Multi-Track, at County Court and High Court levels.  

Dayne has worked on high value claims involving some of the most serious, complex and catastrophic injuries and diseases. Amongst the types of injuries and diseases that Dayne has worked on are NIHL; HAVS/VWF; CTS; WRULD; RSIs; dermatitis; silicosis; asbestos related diseases; mesothelioma; nasal cancer; gastrointestinal diseases; allergies; orthopaedic injuries; FND; CRPS; fibromyalgia; brain injuries; spinal injuries; amputations; psychiatric injuries; and fatal injuries.

Experienced in handling multifaceted claims, Dayne deals with factors such as: indemnity; breach of duty; negligence; contributory negligence; clinical negligence; causation; limitation; quantum; multi-Claimant; multi-Defendant; multi-insurer; LiP; infant; Part 20 claims; reputational considerations; and commercial considerations.

Dayne is well-versed in undertaking site visits, and accident reconstructions. He is also experienced in attending JSMs and trials.

A formidable advocate, Dayne is adept at advocacy at interim Court hearings (CMCs, CCMCs and Applications).

In matters involving dissolved companies, Dayne is seasoned in acting as a witness of fact on prejudice issues.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified in England and Wales as a Lawyer / Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEx) in 2018.
  • Qualified in England and Wales as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts in 2020
