Carolyn is an associate in the Dubai office of Kennedys, in the insurance and cyber teams. She qualified in Australia in 2023 and previously practiced in Brisbane, Queensland.
Carolyn specialises in insurance and reinsurance and commercial dispute resolution with experience advising insurers, reinsurers, insurance brokers and other intermediaries on a variety of contentious and non-contentious insurance matters.
Carolyn has experience advising on claims handling and recoveries, policy interpretation and coverage advice concerning various business lines and acting as defence counsel on instructions from insurers. This experience includes providing coverage advice on directors and officers, professional indemnity, property damage and cyber insurance policies.
Carolyn is registered by the Dubai Legal Affairs Department.

Work highlights
- Acted on behalf of Insurers in the Supreme Court of New South Wales after one of Australia’s largest banks commenced proceedings against insurers for declining to indemnify a AUD1.3billion penalty levied by the regulator for numerous anti-money laundering breaches.
- Advised excess underwriters on class actions involving the alleged mis-selling of financial products, charging of fees for no service and misleading and deceptive conduct by various financial institutions.
- Advised primary and excess underwriters across multiple insurance programs in relation to shareholder class actions and regulatory proceedings commenced in the Federal Court of Australia arising out of the Banking and Financial Services Royal Commission, business interruption caused by Covid-19 and alleged failures to comply with anti-money laundering legislation.
