Recent data privacy developments in Asia-Pacific
Data privacy laws are getting stricter throughout Asia-Pacific. Several countries are introducing new laws and strengthening existing laws, and there is a trend towards adopting features of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, such as mandatory breach notification, record-keeping requirements and enhanced rights for individuals. This seminar will look at the current data privacy landscape in Asia-Pacific, and take an in-depth look at recent developments in Australia and across the region including:
- The changes proposed to the Australian Privacy Act by the Morrison Government and the ACCC
- Thailand's new Personal Data Protection Act
- Proposed new privacy legislation in New Zealand and India
- New mandatory personal information protection insurance requirements in Korea
- Singapore's new mandatory data breach regime proposals
