Irina is an Associate Advocate in Kennedys’ Moscow. Prior to joining Kennedys, Irina worked for four years in another Moscow law firm assisting the Russian energy sector.  

She specialises in property and construction and installation disputes, disputes involving industrial enterprises owning hazardous facilities, contractual disputes, product liability, personal and property damage insurance claims, and also directors’ and officers’ liability risks. She represents international insurers and reinsurers operating within the Russian Federation, as well as Russian insurers/reinsurers and large industrial enterprises, in relation to wide range of insurance claims.

Irina has experience in resolving insurance disputes in Russian commercial courts and international commercial arbitrations seated in Russia, from low value individual claims to large corporate disputes.

She manages all manner of insurance claims, with a particular focus on high value claims and complex non-contentious issues.

  • Represented London reinsurance market in a dispute with a Russian insurance company about paying the reinsurance indemnity under an aircraft owner’s reinsurance policy.
  • Represented Russian insurance companies in a dispute with an Austrian construction company arising from a construction and installation insurance agreement.
  • Represented an insurer’s Russian subsidiary at the International Commercial Arbitration Court in a dispute arising from a cargo insurance agreement.
  • Successfully defended an insurer’s Russian subsidiary in disputes arising from Visa cardholders’ personal insurance. The claims were connected to medical situations while travelling abroad.
  • Represented Russian energy giant in a dispute with a Russian insurance company about paying the insurance indemnity under a construction and installation policy after a gas turbine crush.
  • Advising an insurer’s Russian subsidiary in warranty claims coverage issues under product liability programme. The claims were brought by numerous consumers against car traders in connection with faulty goods.
