Kennedys installs new leadership team in Spain to spearhead growth
We are pleased to confirm that we have installed a new leadership team in our Madrid office.
Our Spanish office will now be led by partners Isidoro Ugena, Alfonso de Ramos and Olivia Delagrange, who will be supported by their existing team of 10 lawyers and support staff.
Isidoro Ugena has over twenty years’ experience and for the last 12 has worked exclusively for the insurance and reinsurance sector as an expert litigator and negotiator for both Spanish and London Market insurers. He also has significant experience acting as appointed counsel, protecting the interests of clients and defending insureds.
Alfonso de Ramos specialises in working for London Market insurers on claims related to Spain and is an expert in advising on complex coverage and litigation issues. Recently he has achieved exceptional results in resolving complex and high value disputes and avoiding costly litigation for clients.
Olivia Delagrange is qualified in three jurisdictions, namely Spain, Belgium and England and Wales. She has extensive experience in transportation law, including marine, road and aviation. Her triple qualification provides added value for international claims and as a result she is often instructed for large and complex losses.
We have terminated our relationship with partners Jesus Velez and José María Arauz, who will play no part in Kennedys' future business operations. We are aware that they are suggesting in press releases and mail shots that they are entitled to use the Kennedys name in Spain, but that is untrue. Moreover, their operation, for the moment called Kennedys Abogados, is now the subject of dissolution proceedings before the Commercial Court of Madrid, under the provisions of article 125 of the Voluntary Jurisdiction Law and per article 366 of the Capital Companies Law.
Senior Partner Nick Thomas says: “The Madrid partners and lawyers are committed to the global firm of Kennedys and we look forward to a new generation of leaders generating growth in the Spanish market. I have every confidence that the new leadership team will drive our business forward and provide clients with the level of service that clients expect of Kennedys globally.”
The team in Madrid are currently operating remotely until further notice due to ongoing measures in place surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19). Our robust IT infrastructure allows our teams to work remotely, ensuring that service to clients remains unaffected.
