Kennedys Latin America

Om os

In 2010, Kennedys was the first international insurance law firm to open an office in Miami. Miami is our regional hub for legal issues across all of Latin America and the Caribbean.

We help clients manage claims, analyse/litigate coverage and related exposures, as well as provide an advisory role on all other related issues across the US, and the Latin American and Caribbean region. We specialise in providing market-leading insurers and reinsurers with coverage advice to support the insurance and reinsurance sector across all insurance risks.

We have deep experience not only in the most complex cases, but also in cost-effective, high-volume claims resolution, class actions and regulatory work. We also resolve disputes and claims in the most complex industry sectors including aviation, construction, marine and cargo.

On 1 June 2017, Kennedys merged with US insurance law specialists Carroll McNulty & Kull, creating Kennedys CMK. Read more about Kennedys CMK’s expertise and offices throughout the US.

Kennedys for Latin America and the Caribbean and for the US

Our Miami office has two distinct business units:

  1. Miami as the ‘gateway’ to Latin America and the Caribbean, with a team led by Alex Guillamont, providing advice in these regions.
  2. Miami for the US, led by Neil Bayer and his colleague Dan Sanders who practice US law.

The operation of the Miami office is managed by Anna Weiss, Deputy Head of Kennedys Americas, and Head of Construction for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Our regional and international presence

Our dedicated multilingual Miami team is well placed to support our clients. We draw on the skills and experience of Kennedys globally, and work in close liaison with our local Kennedys offices in the region:

We also have associated offices in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, and long-standing relationships with leading regional insurance and reinsurance law firms, giving us capabilities across multiple Latin American and Caribbean jurisdictions.

Kennedys CMK has offices in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas, taking our total number of offices to 32 worldwide.

Our (re)insurance lawyers in Miami are also supported by our international insurance team, including the London Market division and other offices around the world who handle some of the most significant insurance and reinsurance matters worldwide.

Awards and recognition

We won Reactions magazine’s award for ‘Best Latin America Insurance and Reinsurance Law Firm 2016’. The award honours institutions and individuals who have achieved marked excellence in their profession with unique insight in to the direction of growth and key developments in the Latin America (re)insurance market. The 2016 Reactions magazine award follows our consecutive awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015, when industry leaders also voted for Kennedys Latin America and Caribbean as being the market’s best insurance and reinsurance law firm.

Alex Guillamont, Head of Latin American and Caribbean practice and Liaison for regional affairs, has again been voted in to the LatAm Insurance Review’s Power 50 list. This list is a snapshot of the most influential professionals in the Latin American insurance sector, who are driving the development of the regional market.

Neil Bayer enjoys an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the oldest and most widely recognised rating service for American lawyers.
