Legal apprentices

Our September 2018 legal apprentice applications are now open. Visit the GetMyFirstJob website to apply now.

We are proud to be a UK government accredited trailblazer organisation. Our paralegal apprenticeships are designed to help springboard you into a successful career in the legal world by providing you with a mixture of studying and learning within the workplace.

The two-year paralegal apprenticeship scheme is available in seven of our UK offices: Birmingham, Cambridge, Chelmsford, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Taunton.

Our success is shown in our top 50 position in “The 2015 Top Apprenticeship Employers”, in partnership with The Telegraph. We have been listed in the top 50 of “The Top Employers for School and College Leavers 2016/2017”, which shows our dedication to our apprenticeship scheme.

We are offering the Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Legal Services, which is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate university degree. As an apprentice, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required for a paralegal or litigation assistant role here at Kennedys.

Following this, apprentices that would like to continue their learning may have the opportunity to join the Level 7 apprenticeship, which enables you to gain an LLB (Hons) degree in legal practice and could ultimately lead to you qualifying as a solicitor.

BPP University Law School

BPP University Law School is our learning provider for the legal apprenticeship scheme. BPP have over 20 years’ experience in delivering professional legal qualifications and have earned a place as one of the largest law schools in the UK. BPP have seven UK locations, making it easily accessible for students in all of our UK offices. More information about BPP can be found here.

What can I expect as a legal apprentice?

In addition to a dedicated supervisor at Kennedys, you’ll have a personal tutor and student manager at BPP, to ensure that you have all the support you need at work and with your studies.

The course has six modules (three per year) and it involves a mixture of lectures, online live tutorials and self-study.

Our paralegal apprenticeships will give you:

  • An introduction into law.
  • A combination of learning and working within one of our legal teams, to build your legal knowledge and the skills required to work as a paralegal.
  • An opportunity to learn the fundamentals of legal practice, including appropriate behaviours and skills.
